Insurance & Billing FAQ

Insurance & Billing FAQs

Why did I receive a bill from Coast Diagnostics?

Although you may not have had labs performed at a Coast Diagnostics testing facility, your provider may have sent us your labs to be processed. The bill you received could be for the laboratory services provided by Coast Diagnostics. Because Coast Diagnostics operates as a separate entity from your provider’s office, the bill that you received from Coast Diagnostics is ONLY for lab services and is separate from any bill that you may have received from your provider and/or paid at your provider’s office.

A few reasons why you may have received a bill from Coast Diagnostics include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Missing/incorrect insurance information sent to Coast from your provider

  • The insurance carrier denied payment for the claim

  • The insurance carrier accepted and processed the claim, but applied the remaining balance to your copay or deductible

  • The insurance carrier rejected the claim.

If you believe that you have received a bill in error, or would like to speak to someone regarding your account, please contact Christie Vaughn at (251) 341-5070.

Are COVID-19 tests free for everyone?

Since the passage of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) on March 18, 2020, most people will not face costs for COVID-19 testing or associated costs, although certain exceptions may apply. Starting on March 18, 2020 and lasting for the duration of the public health emergency, all forms of public and private insurance, including self-funded plans, must now cover FDA-approved COVID-19 tests and costs associated with diagnostic testing with no cost-sharing, as long as the test is deemed medically appropriate by an attending health care provider. This includes high-deductible health plans and grandfathered plans, but does not apply to short-term, limited duration plans.
